Cold weather also plays havoc with capacitive touch screens. Does it do it when your in your house or a warmer place? Could also be what the other two posters said.

It's happened on rooted stock and custom. It rarely happens at home, but it does sometimes. I know that cold can have an effect as well as sweat from one's finger but my old 2G iPod touch and new 4Gen iPod touch don't have this issues. I've only met 1 other Evo user with the same issues the rest of my friends never have it.
