New HTC Sync Error
After a clean install of Windows 7 and Outlook 2010 when I replaced hard drive with an SSD, HTC Sync quit working. All other programs work fine.
I've tried the usual, such as making sure I am on sync and not on data. And I'm set for USB debug, etc.
The following attempts all fail:
1. HTC Sync 3.0.5481 "installs", but puts up a taskbar icon of a phone with a white X inside a red circle on a small phone icon on the taskbar notifications. It goes away when you click. When you try and sync you get an error on the EVO saying it can't find HTC Sync.
2. Uninstalled 3.0.5481, did a reboot, and tried 3.0.5422. Same symptoms as above. This version was working perfectly on the previous hard drive.
3. Uninstalled 3.0.54232 and did a reboot. Installed 2.0.40. Now the phone finds HTC Sync, but only the Windows contacts, not the Outlook contacts. A scanpst initally found errors which it fixed, but still no luck.
4. Uninstalled 2.0.40 and did a reboot. Installed the original HTC Sync off the phone. Same symptoms as 2.0.40. Both these used to work in earlier days.
5. Tried CompanionLink trial. It fails with an "invalid class string" error.
Any advice or debugging suggestions would be gratefully received.
