Gonna pick up my Evo in an hour

First of all, Im a long TP2 user finally switching over to the evo.

I have been reading few post and am worried. Is there anything i should look for when i get my device. like something about and 004 evo and what update it has or something of that sort. Any advice as to what to make sure of when i pick up my evo? Hope i get responses soon cause im about to go on my lunch break

Make sure it is hardware 0004. The Sprint employee may have it updated to HBOOT 2.10 but no worries, you can NAND unlock it. Don't say anything about the HBOOT though

Edit- Once you get your Evo, here is the Guide to get it rooted (that's if you want to root it) :

how would i make sure it was 0004... Is it in the box somewhere? Also what Android OS is best right now... 2.1, 2.2, 2.2.1, 2.3?

turn the phone on.. go to menu>settings>about phone>hardweree info.. the version is listed in there.

2.1 is Eclair, 2.2 is Froyo, 2.2.1 is a version of Froyo, 2.3 is gingerbread

ur gonna love it. i got mine last thursday and i love it. it is 004 version although i have no idea what it matters.

The .004 is the Hardware Version, they keep making improvements and that is what it means. You should remember in WM phone they also had Hardware versions.

ok i got the phone and its nice... I was going to wait for the LG optimus 2x to come out for sprint (if it ever did) and switch out my TP2 but i couldnt wait any longer. Now i got to root my phone. Anyone use video chat? if so what is the recommended or most commonly used one. I am using Qik right now...
