I just got my sprint evo friday and am loving it. i just picked up my phone and it told me there was an OTA update available. is the the "froyo" that everyone is waiting for or is 2.2 already froyo? i am running android 2.2 now. so am i in fact already running froyo and this is just a minor update?

2.2 is Froyo. It is the same system as you are running with some new additions. It will add a blockbuster video app and swype keyboard along with some other little things........

I bought my daughter an EVO for Christmas and hers came with 3.7 and the new HBoot. Once you get settled with your new toy and more familiar, let us know which HBoot came on it.

can someone explain the difference between 2.2, 2.2.1, and 2.3? not being a smart ass, I really want to know.

so far all i can tell is it just added some bloatware. the game is the only thing i might use. i guess i need to root my evo now so i can take off some of the junk i won't be using from sprint and the update

The 3rd number in red (2.2.1) is just a slight modification of the base Froyo (2.2) and now me Have a new base Gingerbread (2.3) so in near future (2.3) will get a slight modification an example.. (2.3.7) In essence the first two number's are the base aka Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread and the third number is a mod! Hopefully that helped!

I can give you a couple to try on your HD2, the new "RAM Versions" are faster than hell, because it loads the whole build to RAM at boot-up so it runs faster and smoother than SD card or even NAND, pretty awesome.

Don't forget WP7 soon to come on the HD2 and I hear rumors that they got market access too

@ OP

I think the Evo will get a 2.3.1 Gingerbread update relatively soon, it seems to be the first Sense device to get updates as far as I can tell (either that or Desire)
