How do I sort contacts (Last, First)

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen and Happy Holidays.

I've got the EVO with the stock 2.2 ROM.

Does anybody know how I sort my contacts by last name first? I've looked all over my EVO Settings and can't figure it out.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

if you just press the name on the contact edit, you'll be able to change from first name, last name to last name, first name...vice versa.

Can you explain that better. I don't see any option to switch to last name, first name on my Evo.

I posted this a month ago. No one could answer it. I don't think it can be done. I just got used to it. It is very odd you can't do it though since it seems like such a simple option to add. I came from the TP2 where it was just an option you checked off so this surprised me.

I'm storing all of my contacts on my gmail account. Then I just sort it on gmail.com's website. I'd suggest you try it.

My contacts are last name, first name on Gmail in Google and in Outlook on my PC, and I can choose to display them either way in both. What's frustrating is that option isn't available on the phone, they will only display first name last name.

for me, i can go to edit name... there's option to type in first name and last name. and underneath that, it shows display name in gray. i can click on that and change it from first/last to last/first.

I was able to open a single contact, click on the name, and found how to switch it to last/first. I sure wouldn't want to go through all 450 contacts one-by-one to do that though.

Why doesn't Android let you switch them all at once like Google and Outlook do?
