Your data will only get wiped if you wipe it. I generally don't wipe data before flashing a kernel. I wipe the Davlik cache only. I figure teh DVM is probably the only thing that could create conflicts.

No.flashing a kernel is a little different from flashing a rom. Though you flash them the same way. Everyone always says to wipe your cache ( partition cache) and your davik cache before you flash a kernel. Backing up is a good idea too. With that you are free to try any kernel you like. Just check the link the op gave in the first post of this thread .

looks like too many issues w/ this kernal that the OP @ xda has decided to remove the SBC kernal all together. that sucks. even netarchy has removed his sbc kernals (he put them here:http://www.qap.la/~netarchy/)
whats the next best thing??
