When you flash a kernel, will it wipe your data? Still new to the while kernel thing. Right now I'm running omj rom.

No.flashing a kernel is a little different from flashing a rom. Though you flash them the same way. Everyone always says to wipe your cache ( partition cache) and your davik cache before you flash a kernel. Backing up is a good idea too. With that you are free to try any kernel you like. Just check the link the op gave in the first post of this thread .
