WiFi While on the Phone?

I have been experiencing some issues that I was hoping someone could straighten out for me. (yes I have done a search...)
Anyway,
When connected to a call on my phone (Evo--rooted) AND connected to a Wi-Fi signal I am unable to surf the web, get mail, or any do anything that requires a data connection. Why is this? In theory I should be able to do all of the above and more... right?
So, I have called a family member (who works for T-mobile) and she suggested that it was because Sprint has blocked that feature via the Rom. I didn't think that this was possible, given that Sprint has no "right's" to tell me when I can/ cannot use my Wifi connection. Anyway, the question that I would like to you smart people to answer is...
Why can I not use my WiFi connection (for any data purposes) at the same time as making a phone call. (I am not referring to the 3/4g connection...)

Re: WiFi While on the Phone?

I'm on rooted stock ROM and I have no issues doing any of that while on the phone. I just got 10 emails and was surfing the web while on a call, so Sprint does not block that. I used to do the same before I rooted. Not sure why yours does not work though.

Re: WiFi While on the Phone?

Check your connection while you're off the phone and you range from the router. Could be the issues... I'm not having any issues at all with mine.

Re: WiFi While on the Phone?

Not sure what happened, but I just flashed to the new Sprint lovers rom (3.70 was running the 3.30) and it seems to be all better now.
But to help with your curiosity I checked all settings and looked at the signal strength of the WiFi and all looked good. I would say that either I got a bad download of the ROM or a bad flash. ( I would say the latter)
Bottom line is... a ghost in the machine got me and I have now exercised them all out!

Re: WiFi While on the Phone?

Same exact problem. Just noticed this today. In the past however I have not had any problems using wifi while on phone. As soon as I disconnect the call wifi starts working again. What gives? Wifi siganal strength is full, connected to the network and every thing looks good. Just not getting that connection. Any help would be appreciated. Also I am on the stock rom no root or anything.

Re: WiFi While on the Phone?

Hi guys I also noticed that while on the Evo that if Wifi is not enabled that I can't enable it and have it actually "start" while on the phone. In order for the Wifi to strat I have to hang up. Then once started and a call is initiated wifi is useless it might as well be 3g.

Re: WiFi While on the Phone?

I was using Sprint lovers new rom 3.30 at the time this was happening. Now that I have flashed to the new 3.70 everything is gravy... until last night when my WiFi stopped working all together... at least it did for MY router... I can see everyone else s but mine... I think that it might be a totally separate issue though.
