Rooted Evo Keeps Cutting Off

Hey, I'm just a noob at all of this but my evo is fully rooted. Everytime I use the internet(data) or an app that uses a lot of internet, the phone cuts off and restarts. I thought it was the ROM but i just downloaded OMJ's ROM and it did the same thing. I dont know what to do. I am on android 2.2 but i pretty sure I'm old on the OTA. All and any help is appreciated.

mine used to do that, but only when I was in certain areas, mostly around the SF-Bay...

After updating to 3.30.651.3, it stopped.

Exclamation Re: Rooted Evo Keeps Cutting Off

Sorry to inform you that flashing a stock, custom, or rooted 3.30 Rom will not fix your rebooting issue. This is an internal hardware defect of some sort and no matter how many times you flash or wipe your EVO, it will still do it. It happens when the phone is put under a load such as data usage while having weak signal, streaming flash videos, etc. My old EVO did this and got so bad I had no choice but to exchange it for a new one at the Sprint store under factory warranty.

You will soon find what I'm telling you to be true. You're going to have to exchange your EVO for a new one and hopefully it won't develope the same problem. There are several threads on this already, just search here in the forums or look over @ androidcentral.com
Good luck.

Since the OP has not posted an update, it doesnt mean he is or isn't still having the same issue. OP hasn't even confirmed his steps to try to remedy his problem Wait for an update from the OP.

Just because I am convinced this is a hardware defect doesn't mean that everyone with this issue definitely has a defective phone. This problem actually gets worse over time... not exactly sure why though. It's very odd. I would like to here from the OP for an update on his phone issue.

Re: Rooted Evo Keeps Cutting Off

Now my evo cuts off after I'm on the phone for 15mins. If someone can tell me how to flash the RUU I will do that ASAP. I want to explore every possibility before getting a new evo. Thank you for concern.

Re: Rooted Evo Keeps Cutting Off

Go over to XDA (or search here) for RUU_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.30.651.2_Radio_2.15. 00.09.01_NV_1.77_003_release_154209_signed

or

RUU_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.70.651.1_Radio_2.15. 00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed

You run it from your PC and follow the instrucitons. Do not take a rooted phone back to Sprint.
