You shouldn't have a problem ..
There are sense kernels, asop kernels and cm kernels
So use a sense kernel with a sense rom, use a asop kernel with asop kernel etc etc

Re: can i use any kernel on any rom???

In theory, you can use any "sense" kernel with any sense rom and any CM6 kernel with CM6.

HOWEVER, when folks released 3.30.651.3 and .2 roms, that went all to hell..... Why you ask? they changed camera drivers and software and part of that is in the kernel. Some evo's in a particular revision and date, if you have this version and you swap kernels causes FC or reboots when you use the camera.

Again, test away, see what works for you, but like anything, have your nandroid backup working.
