Audio in car question...

Coming from another phone that has a 3.5mm jack and miniUSB jack side by side, I made a cable for my Honda Element that takes both cables neatly from my phone (left side) back to the spot on my Element that has an AUX port and a charging port with in close proximity to each other. (right side)

It is there for easy to grab the phone off my cradle, unplug and talk, or leave the miniUSB in and talk.

My question is with the 3.5mm jack on the top of the evo, it is going to be a royal pain to unplug while driving if I get a call or to even rig the thing up at a stoplight.

Can audio be accessed from either the microUSB or the HDMI on the bottom of the device to send to my stereo for listening to music or pandora?

+1 would like to know this as well.... i don't know how the official car dock does or if it even handles audio without input from 3.5mm jack.

heres my current setup ... YouTube - Custom 03 Vue A5IT sure wish they had a multi adapter like the touch pro 1 had to combine 3.5mm and charging via one connection...

Re: Audio in car question...

I was looking at getting this with a mini to micro usb extension cable to the phone (one cable).

Not sure if the evo pipes audio though the usb.

Saw them cheaper somewere else but can't remember where.

Amazon.com: HTC 3-in-1 USB Audio and Charger Adapter for HTC ExtUSB Smartphone (ATT Tilt 8925 / TyTN 8525 / TyTN II / PPC6800 Mogul / HTC Touch Series / HTC Touch Diamond / T-Mobile Wing / HTC Shadow etc): Electronics: Reviews, Prices & more

Re: Audio in car question...

Have you ever considered buying a Bluetooth device with a stereo out plug to interface with your Honda?

You could stream audio via A2DP, but when a call comes in, it will likely use the car's speakers and a mic built into the bluetooth device for the call audio.

My next car will have a stereo that supports A2DP so I don't have to use an FM transmitter or the method I described above to stream audio. Maybe I'll just buy a car stereo with Bluetooth...

Re: Audio in car question...

I like the bluetooth idea, the honda has space for an adapter, but as always less obtrusive the better, surely dealextreme has a small bluetooth audio adapter I could run off of 5v USB.
