Re: Video OUT
From what I've read, no, there is no program on the market or 'hack' that allows a HDMI cable from your phone to your TV to emulate whatever is on your phone. There is a program for the Droidx, if I remember correctly, that does do just that. For some reason I can't remember the name of it, but I'm sure a quick google search would find it rather quickly.

Re: Video OUT
I find this puzzling as well. Is the problem with Android? Seeing as how that is a feature even my Touch Pro2 has, though not HDMI.

Re: Video OUT
No its not an issue with android, if I remember correctly its got to do with the Evo's internal make-up. Devs are working on a complete overhaul to allow the Evo to output any screen to a TV via the HDMI port. If it were an android issue the Droidx wouldn't have a app out for it.

Re: Video OUT
the program for the droidx is called RealHDMI, I tried it out on my Evo and it didn't work. Upon further research, the developer of the program said he looked into porting it for the Evo but HTC handles the HDMI output differently than Motorola does and it needs a total redo. He said he doesnt have an Evo and probably won't invest the time to work on it. We need someone to step up!
FWIW, I got a hold of certain apps that were ported from some other carrier's android phones (hockey and football) and these programs worked using the HDMI output when viewing condensed games or live streaming tv networks. |

Re: Video OUT
Its kind of strange why HTC would go backwards with their technology. Why would they make the TP2 capable of this ability{even though it wasnt hdmi} and not think that we would want the same for our evo's. Its obviously able to be done seeing that it works for the droidx. Some department for HTC dropped the ball....

Re: Video OUT
Program being worked on right now on XDA. Should happen at some point. He has a video playing Angry Birds on it on page 10 or 11 of the thread. Its XDA>EVO>Development don't feel like looking for it.

Re: Video OUT
I don't know anything really... but the reason we have issues with HDMI is probably because of DRM! Which is the reason blu-ray players don't play on certain TV's using HDMI because of updated standards... That's the ONLY reason I can think of because you're right, even the touch pro had tv out!... but that wasn't HD right? :P
