Returning phone to Sprint root question

hey fellow ppc geeks ,

just a question i am returning my phone (evo) back to sprint, its defective and sprint is shipping me one beacuse i am in my thirty days, does installing a shipped rom remove my root and erase all traces of my customisations?

if not could someone point me in the right direction
