I have had an EVo since June 8th. Don't think I have had this. I do reboot on occassion to "clear the pipes" so to speak. I stream radio while riding a Harley and trying to start from a clean sheet before I roll.

I have hareware ver 002. You may be 003. Keep the issue alive but be sure you have TEP, lest you may be back to the Sprint Store soon.

Re: evo power button issue

I believe there is a 15 or 20 second delay that you have to wait.

The alternative would be a full soft reset that auto reboots.

Press the volume up and down buttons and hold the both down at the same time you press the power button. It might take 3 to 4 seconds but the phone will reboot like a normal soft reset.

I've never had to wait more than 5 seconds to power my EVO back on after having powered it off.

Re: evo power button issue

You can install Sprintlovers rom, his latest roms include a reboot option when you hold down the power button, then you won't have to worry about pushing the button to turn it back on.

OMJ also has this option. I think OP has to find out whats wrong with phone. If pushing down power button he may have trouble in a recovery with power button working options.

Re: evo power button issue

If you have TEP (and everyone should) don't try to fix this with a ROM! Take your phone to the Sprint Store, hand it to the Tech or salesman and ask them to turn it off and on. Then ask for a resolution!
