Latest HTC update. Any "new" news on this for the EVO?

Have not really seen any info lately on whether we will be getting this update. Anyone heard anything? Perhaps a time frame or date?

Some of those new features look really nice.

I am talking about the update that will integrate the phones with HTCSense.com as well as give us offline navigation, 8 to 10 second phone reboots, and remote device locating and locking etc.

I haven't heard anywhere that HTC has officially committed to bringing those features to the EVO. They've been pretty good with updates so far, but they might be holding those back to sell new handsets. Then again, some of the new features likely include an additional service charge, so who knows. I haven't heard anything on the matter. You could always try one of the Desire HD ROM ports, but they're definitely a work in progress.

Last I checked HTC said they are going to bring the update to all 2.2 devices but when remains to be seen. Honestly I think it'll happen around the end of November.

He's talking about Gingerbread, which will be version 2.3. Supposed to be a "major update" according to google. Here's a link..

Gingerbread and the new HTC Sense are two different things. The OP is talking about the new Sense which someone else said HTC hasn't officially committed to bringing to the devices other than the Desire HD and the Desire Z.

There is a custom ROM out there with the new Sense on it, which is a work in progress but worth checking out if you're curious... and rooted of course.

I think there was some posts about Gingerbread coming out in November, but for which device, don't know...

Then there is the wait for HTC to put their Sense on it and Sprint to customize the bloatware...

+1 there are some ports already from the newer devices with the newer HTC Sense around. I think 3-4 things aren't working, Cameras, HDMI, FM Radio and 4G. They are awesome ports, the camera kills it for me though.

Newer phones to think about by then, dual, tri, quad core FTW ;P

Since he said the update would give us faster boot times made me believe he was talking about something other than sense as sense is just a skin, not an OS and sense would not give us 8-10 second boot times...

keep waiting...I highly doubt we're getting this update any time soon...
