Can's send SMS while in call

whats up
i noticed today that my phone cant or wont send sms while I'm in call. is this a problem with the phone or the network? thanx

weird. it tries a few times and then gives me the failure notification

I believe that you either need to be connected 4G or Wifi to be able to do both at once.

rebot doesnt help, and i was on wifi. i can recieve msgs but cant reply when in call

u dont need to b 4g or wifi to snd mssg while in a call..

well cdma calls still use 1x, but you should be able to do sms and voice simultaneously. mms is a different beast however.

are you in a weak signal area, or possibly roaming?

not roaming and i got about 4 bars of service

you need to be on 4g or wifi in order to surf the web and make calls, but texting while on a call should work fine without either.
