Finally got my EVO, just have 2 questions please :)

Well after awhile I got my evo since my upgrade wasn't up, so I bought one off craigslist BNIB. My first question is, is there anyway to set individual ringtones to contacts for SMS...not phone calls, but SMS. 2nd question is I just came from WM and was always flashed to MightyRom...I was wondering which ROM out there is best like MightyRoms, well thank you in advance

EDIT: one more question, is there a way to make it so when I get a text and the MP3 starts playing that I can stop it by pressing the back or home button?

First question, Ring droid. You can download it from the market.
Second questions, I too came from WINMO and you might want to play with the stock ROM for a bit. You will be surprised how efficient the android OS is. Its not like WINMO, you can customize almost everything without changing the rom.

Re: Finally got my EVO, just have 2 questions please :)

Android is a way more intuitive OS in terms of usability. There is so much you can do with it. I love the implementation of all the google apps and how they work together. WINMO never had any of that...it was plain, completely basic and ran like crap. I would stick with the stock rom and see how it goes...you'll be suprised how great it runs. Most the time the custom ROMS are for those who just can't stand the norm....or don't want certian features...I could care less the phone runs great...hardly any lag and hasn't failed me yet..

ya ive been playing with my evo all night haha, but with ringdroid it's not letting me set individual SMS tones, like I can change the default one, but like I'd like one special ringtone for when my gf texts me lol, is that possible to do? I know such old phones like the razr could but lately the TP, TP2, Hero, Epic all havent been able to lol but im hoping the Evo can

Its actually not Ringdroid - you need Ringo Lite. Ringdroid is great for MAKING the ringtone.

Get Ringo Lite (the paid version doesnt do much more). Not sure about stopping with home or back button, but you can just bring down notification window and take back up and it stops (dont even have to drag all the way down).

+1 for LAUNCHER PRO! Def worth it paid or not! I love it. I came from winmo and customizing was the best. With it and Desktop Visualizer - I can change my screen, theme, layout every day!

Re: Finally got my EVO, just have 2 questions please :)

no, type it as Launcherpro all together. Market is funny that way. It has a yellow square icon with a house in it. By Frederico Carnales. You can also register for his forum and get custom docks/icons to change. LauncherPro «

I believe so on your sd card question.

adw launcher is another home screen app and SlideScreen. You'll have endless changes you can make once you get into it all!

its pretty short, id just like it sometimes to just end it instead of hearing the whole thing

another thing is there any free way to hook my phone up to my laptop as a modem without rooting my phone? idk if the sprint hotspot is free or not.

and is there any point to rooting my phone and staying with the stock ROM?
