FM radio not working?

just got evo and plugged in a pair of headphones and all i hear is static throughout all the bands i try scolling through. went home got another pair of headphones and tried again. same problem. any ideas why? do i have to do anything prior? should be plug and listen i would imagine but im stumped.

try to dial in a station manually like 103.5 whatever station you have there
maybe you not getting good signal

its typed in exact. i know the stations around me so i type those in. static on every single number. can it be the headphones? and coincidentally the 2 i have dont work as good enough antenna?

when you plug the headphones does the fone recognize them
do you see a lil headphone symbol on the top bar?

yea. it has the message saying i need headphone when out. i plug in and message disappears and i can choose a station. but nothing but static hiss

i hear static hiss through headphones and speaker of phone when i swap. they arent 99 cent stuff they are normal headphone ear buds. dont see how they cant work. guy on youtube used old iphone ear buds and worked fine

This phone is notoriously picky about the type of headphones you use. Generally speaking, the cheaper they are, they better they work.

Seriously, I bet you get a signal with a pair of 5$ headphones. It sucks, but it's just the way it is.

I agree. My Altec Lansings don't pick up any stations, but dollar store earbuds work fine, even tho the sound is horrible.

Anyone know any decent sounding headphones that work?
