Unlock The Ps3 With Evo (Evo Needs To Be Rooted)

IF YOUR DOING THIS AND DON'T KNOW IT CAN BRICK YOUR PHONE AND PS3 THEN PLEASE PROCEED AND DON'T FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS VERY WELL


Yep as the title says you can unlock your PS3 to run just about anything with a rooted evo.

First off you need to make a nand backup. If you don't do this you will be sorry so just flippin do it!

Next put enable-psfreedom-Evo4G_BDVD.zip on the root of your SD card.

Reboot into recovery

Flash Zip you just put on SD card to EVO and reboot. This may make your EVO lockup on the white screen but it will still work (remember how I said you really should make a nand backup hope you were listening) I was using OMJ and it flashed just fine.

Now with your EVO booted up or locked up at the white screen turn the power off on your PS (fat one turn the switch off in the back slim unplug power cord from back) and plug the EVO in via USB cord. Turn power switch on or plug cord back into ps. Now press the power button and immediately after press the eject if done right it will take an extra 3 seconds to boot up.

Go to games and see if you have an option to install development apps.

Now extract manager.zip to a usb flash drive and then install to the PS3 using the new option under games.

At this point you do have to hook the EVO up and flash the custom kernel every time you want to use or install a non signed app or you want to run an installed non signed app.

Some ROMS like OMJ you can just flash the kernel into and the phone will still work just fine as a phone (no Wifi though). Others will need to flash the kernel or restore a backup with the kernel flashed.

So if we unlock the PS3 then meaning we can run homebrew program, like emulator and play ISO game instead of actual disc?

my bro did this with his pre...

but he says that this will require you give up access to sony online. Sony will cut you off from thier online services.

I have not done any research into this.. can anyone confirm this? and any other negatives.

Make sure you guys read that thread he posted thats linked to XDA its got more information of the side effects if any. OP you need to put in your original post that this voids the warrenty and could possibly harm your device. Read up on this before you go diving in, the last thing you want is to buy a second PS3 because sony locked you down on your last one.

Also.. you need to do this every time you boot the PS3. It's not persistent. That is a drag

What are the biggest advantages of Homebrews? Can you play backups of actual PS3 games?

When I can play backups online is when I dive into hacking my ps3. It's too expensive of a toy.... Just my .02

look not to get anyone in trouble but with back up manager you can copy backup copies of ya games and the only side effect I heard of was that you shouldn't try to get online while running in Dev Mode.
