ringer for text message ringer not working

for some reason my text ringtone is not working. I have tried changing it, but cant seem to find a way to change just the text ringtone. All I can change is the notification ringtone.

Once again thanks

notification ringtone is the 'text' ringtone.

open msg app>menu>settings>notification ringtone (also make sure notification sounds is checked)

is your ringtone on your storage card or on the phones internal memory?

open your message app, then menu>settings> is play notification sound checked?
if so, not sure what the problem is.

i dont even use the htc msg app. I use handcent since you can give individual people specific text sounds.

Re: ringer for text message ringer not working

If you want to be able to assign a separate tone for text messages, you would need to install something like Handcent from the marketplace. I happen to love all the customizations you can do with it. Excellent for a free program.

No you do not need to install handcent for a separate ringtone. Click on the message app, press menu, click settings, half way down the settings list there is an option for notification settings. Tada click that and let the magic happen.

Also if the ringtone is custom like a song or something, You want to make sure the ringtone is put on a file in your sd card called Notifications not sure if it should have that "s" at the end but I am pretty sure it should. Once you click on any notification sound tab your custom notification will show up in the list. Another tada!
