HTC Connected Services - New Sense...

So apparently HTC will be updating Sense with some new Connected Services via something they call HTCSense.com

Some new features:
Updated camera application
Remote Wiping
Call forwarding
Locating the phone if lost
etc...

The best feature will be the noticeably faster response and faster start-up times... They are claiming 10 seconds!!! (via what HTC is calling fastboot)

Can't wait to get it all ported but there is a high likelyhood that we will not be seeing this new Sense US-side for sometime since we all know how hard it is to port Sense unless Sprint or Verizon have a CDMA version of the software first.

Re: HTC Connected Services - New Sense...

Sweet, hopefully it will work as it should. Remote wiping should be good for when your stuck in a boot-loop

Mike, how would it help if you were stuck in a boot loop. For it to work, your phone would have to be able to boot and load sense...

Correct, your radio and HTC Android services will have to be online and running if you want to remote wipe your device.

Re: HTC Connected Services - New Sense...

There is a strong possibility we will not be able to get this newer Sense fully working in our Evo's unless HTC sends out another ROM update for Sprint (which is unlikely)

http://www.HTCSense.com is a website which requires authentication which means we will be required to sign-up for the service. It is unlikely they will open this service to previous costumers unless they offer the ROM update for our handsets and refer us to their sign-up roster.

I guess we wait for the Evo 2???.......

I'm giving it a 25% chance we get another ROM update...

Knowing sprint and htc, they will probably introduce this feature on a new phone rather then introduce it via rom update. I hope its via rom update because I loved this feature on windows with their windows backup service that they had. Forgot what it was called but it had backup, remote wipe and gps location services. I loved it and I miss all those features.

Re: HTC Connected Services - New Sense...

the evo is a hot phone... i predict we have at least one more major update left before they abandon it.

I thought HTC wasnt kind at releasing souce? What I mean is I dont think they will release it for people to just edit for our phones. However, whatever phone it goes to I am sure it will eventually be pulled and worked on for our phone if we dont get it before hand. So essentialy you are probably right.
