Backing up paid app from Rooted phone

Ok, If I buy an app off the market, can I simple copy the apk file from some directory (ie /data/app) on my phone to back it up? Can I install it from the apk directly?

you can redownload it from the marketplace if you need to...

You could also use Titanium Backup. It works really well!

or use root explorer to get the apk from system/apps
