Re: New phone and unsure how to do what I want to do HTC EVO

+1 to Titanium Back Up to uninstall system apps...it works marvelous!!

I also use a startup cleaner...that basically restricts what apps/process is allowed to start up on its own.

As for FB...you should be able to turn the updating to manual. OR you can just NOT link your facebook acc't to your phone.

if you are talking about battery life...there are several apps that can help...and its all over these forums. Juicedefender, tasker are two that comes to mind.

Flashing a custom kernal that allows for overclock and undervolt...I think is the way to go to extend the life on a single charge.

Most if not ALL of the custom ROMs that are out there are optimized one way or another to extend battery life (since that seems to be the biggest gripe that most EVO user has)

Re: New phone and unsure how to do what I want to do HTC EVO

Using a program to watch other programs is yet another program I don't want to worry about, why not just nuke the offending program on the phone and be done with it. As for facebook I do not have a account, nor do I tweet or myspace; way to many f--ing security issues and trash within those websites.

Since nuking those programs I have my phone unplugged at 730 am and its after 1230 (night time) and I am still over 75% power left and thats with talking, chatting and web access. It just does not get better than that; he11 its better than my Blackberry Curve.

I'm unrooted and get that kind of battery life. You can obtain good bat life without rooting but the rooters will always disagree. To each his own though. Some people though, download and install just about every app the phone will hold from the market just because it sounds cool without reading the comments from other users and problems they have with it, and this can seriously bork bat life.

Re: New phone and unsure how to do what I want to do HTC EVO

I'm rooted...but I'm not going to disagree about rooting versus NOT rooting.

if you are able to get satisfactory battery life FOR YOU...on your unrooted device...and YOU are happy with YOUR phone...by all means do what you want.

I just happen to like the additional control/functionality gained from rooting. I can't shake my ROM flashing addiction...leftover from my WinMo days.

Same reason why the iProducts in my family are ALL jailbroken...because I like to have functionality that the devices are capable of...and not restricted by the Fruit.

the wife will be getting her hands on an EVO or Epic in a couple of weeks...and I'm planning on just rooting the stock ROM on hers...so that in the event she wants MORE...I can set her up with it.

Rutting is addicting. So many choices to rut with. However, there gets to be a point when rutting becomes too great an influence in the rutter's life. I am old, but not there yet. Happy rutting!

Re: New phone and unsure how to do what I want to do HTC EVO

There are some Market visitors that state Root Manager does not Evo well. We read it deleted the Sprint applications, any problems in any other areas?
