I'm unrooted and get that kind of battery life. You can obtain good bat life without rooting but the rooters will always disagree. To each his own though. Some people though, download and install just about every app the phone will hold from the market just because it sounds cool without reading the comments from other users and problems they have with it, and this can seriously bork bat life.
