Is there a way to get free tethering without rooting?

OK, so my EVO got stolen out of my car and I just got a new replacement which is already updated to Froyo.

All I want is free wired tethering. Don't care about wireless tethering (if it's there, great, if not, meh). Can this be done on 2.2 stock?

I was having a problems getting easy tehter to work. Were you able to get it working?

Yea easy tether works good... Simple to use just follow the instruction n youll b fine

I use easytether so far better then pdanet but im also rooted and use wifi hack and i just rooted my new raplacement that i got in today and i did not use unrevoked never simple click root afther i downgraded
