Contact Widget Default Action

I tried searching for this but had no joy. It seems that I can assign a default action to a contact in my peoples widget, however after a few days, the default action has changed. for instance, I set the default widget action for my wife to text so when I tap on her icon it automaticly goes to the text thread with her and i can just start typing. However, after a few day, the default action changed to calling her cellphone so when I tap her icon thinking it will bring me to our text thread the phone actually places a call to her. I've had this problem with Froyo and thought updating to Gingerbread would do the trick. no such luck. this is an unrooted phone and the clues i can think of make me think it might have something to do with gmail or exchange as I am using both. I know some are going to say "ROOT your phone, it will solve everything" but that is not the correct answer for me. Thanks for all who leave constructive comments!!!

I got two rooted phones and both are doing the same so I guess its normal.

Seems its not normal as we are the only two with the issue LOL.

I have the same issue. set widget action and a few hours later its forgotten. not for all contacts in the widget just a couple and its always the same ones.
