Contact Widget Default Action
 

I'm having trouble with my contact widget. The default action will not stick. I tap the picture and it gives me all the options, call, text, email, etc. Say I select call mobile, it will call the person and the little phone icon comes up on the picture once I end the call. But the icon doesn't stay. If I go back to that widget later the icon is gone and i have to select the default action all over again. I'm on stock 2.2

What? Are you wanting the person pic to stay open. Maybe you want them in fav with pic.

i'm confused..

i'm assuming your pressing on the persons picture via the 'people widget'? (aka favorites)

you open the contact.. press Menu>more>default widget action

and if its not sticking?

Add the Shortcut called "Direct Dial" (not a widget, but a shortcut) (if I understand you correctly)
same thing can be accomplished adding shortcut "Person", and then select their ph # that you want to be dialed when you click the icon.

No, he's talking about....

He makes a contact on the HTC default fav widget and when he clicks on it, it pretty much opens people and displays all the info on that contact instead of calling that contact. I bet the Icon looks like the people app icon thats on the home screen right? And he wants the default action of calling that person.

OP, this is what you gotta do....

Follow tool2269's directions! That will set your default action for that contact in the people widget. This has happened to me a couple of times and easily fixed. Tool, I thanked ya because I think you knew what the OP was trying to say!

I have follwed those steps. The problem is after I set the default action, when I come back to the widget later and press that contact, the default action is no longer set and it lists all the contact options again.

I'll look into Boo Boo's suggestion.

i assume you have removed and then re-added the "people widget" to your homescreen as well? not sure why the default action doesnt stick.

This highlighted action above ONLY calls the person you selected (i.e it does not change the default). To change it select your contact from the Widget, then press the "Menu" button, then select the "More" option then select the "Set Widget Action" option, and finally you can now select (and set) the default action you wish :toothy7:.
