Does SETCpu at 246 = Phone Sleeping?

Ok, I downgraded 2.2 and flashed clockwork and rooted 2.2 stock. (way easier then I thought it would be )

I have a profile with setcpu for screen off = 246 Mhz (the lowest)

I rooted because I had trouble getting my phone to sleep, thus battery life was awful.

So is SetCPU at 246 with screen off equivalent to the phone sleeping? IE does the increment the sleep time figure on the phone.

Thanks
Jeff

Instead of putting a bandaid on the problem, you should download SpareParts from the market and find out what is causing your phone not to sleep.

Re: Does SETCpu at 246 = Phone Sleeping?

that doesn't put your phone to sleep...it only makes your processor runs SLOW...at about a quarter speed.

IF you are rooted...then I suggest using the following in addition to what the earlier posters suggested with spare parts...

Juicedefender (free OR premium)

OR

if you're willing to learn...tasker can be tremendously helpful...but it takes a bit of g2 and searchness to find all the profiles/scripts to help with batt life.

you can find both in the market.

I've used spare parts to to no avail. I can remove ALL the apps and updates from my phone, and it still will not sleep until a hard reset. I can recreate this consistently. Even with less then 6 (non built it) apps loaded.

It's some software issue, a script or config setting. Annoying to say the least. After the rooting, it seems to sleep ok. I will see in a few days.

Thanks for the tip anyway.
