no vibration on incoming text

I have been using handcent sms since I received my evo and disabled notifications from the stock messaging app, but if I have my phone on vibrate, it does not vibrate for incoming messages, only for phone calls. I get the notification sound fine if it is on ringer. I have checked all of the settings and they seem to be fine. Am I missing something? Thanks.

Re: no vibration on incoming text

Its handcent. Did the same thing to me after a few days. I ended up having to hard reset. Maybe look around for an easier solution, but handcent is the culprit.

Re: no vibration on incoming text

Thanks for the reply. Anyone else with a solution that does not require a hard reset or un-installing handcent?

Re: no vibration on incoming text

I had this problem with the stock messenger as well. I downloaded a free program from the market called "sound manager". In the program, press menu, then vibrate settings. By default, "don't vibrate" is checked. I changed both to "vibrate only when silent."

Now I get vibrate notifications when I set my phone to silent.

open handcent>press menu>settings>notification settings>notification settings>scroll down and press "vibrate" and change it to "always or only when device is set to vibrate mode"... from the vibrate menu, you can also set it to 'make sound while on call' and 'vibrate while on a call'

Re: no vibration on incoming text

Tool, I had already tried that setting and it did not work. I also have it set to vibrate while I am on a call and that part works fine. It's just that if the phone is on vibrate, it does not. I will give sound manager a shot, though it seems from the post that it would vibrate even while on silent, and if so I would rather not as if I have the phone on silent I really don't want any sound or vibration. (I'm a light sleeper and put my phone on silent almost every night) I just need it to vibrate while it's on vibrate so that I get notifications during meetings, etc.

Try this. I'm pretty sure this worked for some in the past.
