Re: evo getting hot after froyo update

Hmm...any new apps you installed or is this straight from the update? Try a Hard Reset and see if that helps..worst case take it to Sprint and have them look at it. Make sure it's a Coperate Repair Center though...and have TEP on that phone...otherwise they won't look at it.

Yes, for me its straight from the update. I keep forgetting to call sprint until it is 3 am so Im going to set a reminder to call later. I will let everyone know what answer I get after doing so.

Re: evo getting hot after froyo update

Check your battery usage and see if your phone is going to sleep, an application could be hanging and not letting your phone to sleep.

Go to Settings > About Phone > Battery > Battery use

Cell Stanby and Android Idle should be high on the list, if Android System is #1 then something is keeping your phone awake.

Re: evo getting hot after froyo update

First thing I noticed was heat even before I installed apps. I browsed a little before installing any apps. My settings on battery usage are good on idle. One thing is battery drains more during day faster, no apps running in background.

i did the hard reset 2 times and seems that the froyo has been using up lot of ram and which is making the device hot because it never happened bfore when i had the 2.1 on and also it drains a lot of battery too like very quick bfore i used u have the batt for the whole day and half now i have to charge it 2 times in a day may be more depending on the usage while i was using the same way bfore too on 2.1 but i guess its the froyo but ill try to get it raplaced and try that one n post the results thanks

Re: evo getting hot after froyo update

Heres what I found out, with this update they did overclock the processor, thus that could cause loss of battery life and hot battery, also the new flash player and ect. The AT guy i talked to said he was going to note it and if enough people call they will see about a fix for it. We had also discussed how the update was pushed back a couple of days for other minor bugs and I had brought up the rush to still get it out with verizon's announcement. So maybe they pushed it out too soon. Call sprint and have them note it and lets get the ball rolling.
