Well it depends on the user but in my experience my phone can last 2 days and I am a pretty email/web heavy user, at worst it will make it last all day, I have heard of others lasting longer.

Re: Idea for Evo's 4G

Why wouldn't it be possible to automatically turn on 4G whenever you turn on the phone, and then automatically turn it off 10 minutes (for example) after the screen is off?

The only time I really need the faster 4g speeds is when I'm actively using the phone.

I need to learn more about this... Im on the stock rooted odexed rom. What else do I have to do? When I go to setcpu I get a little intimidated bcuz i dont want to mess anything up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Today is your lucky day

After installing it run it, it will ask for root permission, allow it after that it will tell you it could not detect your device, so simply hit the auto detect at the bottom of the screen, it will detect the Evo and set the clocks accordingly, unless you have a custom kernel that allows overclocking it will not go above 1 GHz so you cannot damage anything. Set it to on-demand and keep the top clock maxed and set the bottom to 500,000+. This way it will scale the processor from 500Mhz - 1GHz when you need it. Also check set on boot.

After you set your clock go to profiles and enable them then add a profile, the one you need to add is screen off, keep all of the settings default, except drag the first clock setting all the way down to 300,000, both clock settings should be the lowest possible. This way when the screen goes off it clocks the processor down to 300MHz. You can add other profiles if you like, but this is the only one that you really need.

Keep in mind this is for a stock kernel, if the ROM you are using allows overclocking you can set the processor higher and much lower, you never want to set it below the 300,000 range as it will be too slow and cause hang ups.

If you need some more help with this just shoot me a PM and I will be more than happy to help

There is a program called Tasker it isn't free but I believe it can do this, you might want to look into it.
