Re: How is the QUALITY of VIDEO????
Dedicated is better, even a digital camera with a camcorder function is way better. It's all about the lens. I can take better photos with an 11 year old 1 Megapixel Kodak DC260, which has a giant real lens, than any cell phone can take, no matter how many megapixels. All the higher megapixels on a cell phone do is give you higher resolution on crap.

Re: How is the QUALITY of VIDEO????
Having camera's in phones these days is nice...but the manf never intended them to be anything like the stand alone cameras. For taking short videos it does the job...and in my opinion it does it very decently. They have room to improve it...and time will show that...but for now it's a great spurt of the moment video capture device that is all tied into a cell phone....
Don't expect it to be a stand alone replacement...thats all I'm saying. |

Re: How is the QUALITY of VIDEO????
Compared to other smart phones that have come out around the same time as the Evo or later, the Evo is at the bottom of the pack when it comes to HD Video/Photos.

Re: How is the QUALITY of VIDEO????
It may be at the bottom of the pack...but atleast it has that feature. It a phone...no a full blown camcorder. For me it's good enough to take video on the go...where having a bigger camera is not as easy to pull out and get setup.
Remember, you paid $199 for this phone...and it came with the features...now if you paid $500-1000 for a decent HD camcorder...yeah the quality will be 100% better. |

Re: How is the QUALITY of VIDEO????
Big time improvement with the OTA update.
I now have .263 and .264 as well as MPEG4 options all the way up to 720p video. It's sweet even under average lighting conditions when shooting at 720p with h.264. Frame rate looks improved as well. Thank you HTC. |

Re: How is the QUALITY of VIDEO????
After further testing I can see significant visual differences in both video and static images.
I believe there is a bug however with regards to h.264 and 720p video. I was able to record a clip at 720p h.264 and now it keeps reverting back to to a lower resolution when I check h.264. |

Re: How is the QUALITY of VIDEO????
Inform HTC about it...thats the best thing to do...that way we can get a update OTA patch sooner than later....here's the phone #...

Re: How is the QUALITY of VIDEO????
HTC cameras always suck compared to other smartphones.
To all the people saying "it's just a phone. not a $1000 dollar camera" I will tell you all to get a clue. Nokia's are just phones too, yet they rival digital cameras. And by the way, flip HD's are like $130, not $1000. So they are way cheaper than this phone- which is actually $450, but we can get a subsidy and get it for $200 if we sign a 2 year contract. Heck, even the Samsung cameras blow the HTC cameras out of the water. HTC keeps making crappy cameras and getting away with it because a bunch of clowns keep saying, "it's okay, it's only a phone, blah, blah, nlah." Wake up people. It may only be a phone but it's still the worst camera on any supposed "superphone" out there (unless the other "superphone" is also sporting a crappy HTC camera). The Motorolas and Samsungs have way better cameras, and the Nokias (which aren't even "superphones") totally blow it out of the water. And the $100 flip HD cameras totally blow it out of the water too. Last edited by BlackDynamite; 08-04-2010 at 07:56 AM. |

Re: How is the QUALITY of VIDEO????
I'm confused...are you sure of what you said there? The reason I ask is that when I choose h.264 the highest resolution available is 800x480. For me the only format where 720p is available is MPEG4, just as it used to be.
