Re: my 4G speed isn't faster than my 3G speeds
4g is new technology and its in its early stages, its as simple as that. When 3g was first available, it wasn't all that either.

Re: my 4G speed isn't faster than my 3G speeds
wait. Your speeds will improve as the network is expanded. My first try on 4G in STL got me 4-5mbs down.

Re: my 4G speed isn't faster than my 3G speeds
I know what you mean. Speeds can be vary even if you standing next to someone else that has an evo. I am in atlanta and no matter what part of atlanta I am in and no matter if I have 1 bar or 3 bars the fastest I have ever gotten I think was around 4mb down but I have seen people post on here that they get over 6mb in atlanta on a regular.

Re: my 4G speed isn't faster than my 3G speeds
This of it as a Cable Internet Connection....when a lot of people are on and using bandwidth...things tend to affect you in terms of speed. This is the same thing for 4G and 3G...it's just how it works. You may be getting slower speeds because said tower your phone is connecting to is in high demand for 3G/4G signal....which in return will slow your connection down. It's also the fact that 4G is young...and is growing....right now since the Evo launch I have noticed a huge difference in speeds in my area...purly due to how many 4G customers are now connected...Give it some time...it will get better once the WiMax/4G network grows and matures.

Re: my 4G speed isn't faster than my 3G speeds
Ok, didnt want to start another post. I am getting 8x faster speeds than 3g in my area, particularly in my house. I bet they slow down but its still much better.
4g has been turned on in Pittsburgh (not official still test) for about a month, but I just got it where I live a couple days ago. Ran a few tests, and getting between 3mb and 6mb during the day and over 6mb at night! Can't wait till this is fully operational. here a sshot from tests taken inside my house. I get better 4g signal indoors than my 3g signal which is strange to me?? This is going to be so cool especially with streaming video and downloads. |

Re: my 4G speed isn't faster than my 3G speeds
Honestly I think it varies... At my house in Raytown my 4g speeds are ok... about 1.5mb down.
At my parents house in South KC I can get speeds of about 3mb. There's only about 5 miles seperating my house and my parents. I work in Leawood about a mile from the sprint campus where there is no 4g coverage yet, I still don't understand that... |

Re: my 4G speed isn't faster than my 3G speeds
i think it's too unstable and limited in range anyway. I just stick to 3g... it's fast enough for my needs. Aside from downloading files, i bet the evo can't even differentiate between 3 and 6mb
