Finally a phone that works as it should! (MMS)

Yesterday, one of my relatives who is on Verizon and does not have a smart phone texted me asking if I could look up an image online and send it to him. So I typed the name of the image into Google, long-pressed the image I wanted, clicked Share, chose Messaging, typed the contact's name, and clicked send. A few minutes later, I got a text back: "thanks dude!"

It wasn't until much later that I realized I had just sent my first MMS with the Evo. And it was so simple and intuitive, I didn't even realize I was doing it. Remember the debacle we had to go through on WM to get MMS to work properly? Perhaps it was easier on the TP2, but on my TP, I recall having to install four cabs (in a specific order) to make MMS almost work, and even then, on most ROMs there was something weird about it.

Glad we don't have to worry about that anymore. The EVO is so awesome.

It is true... the Evo is a winner. It just works.
I am honestly happy. I haven't even found the need to root and flash a ROM yet.

It was easier on the TP2, but nonthreaded(unless you hacked) sucked. I can understand a seperate thread for MMS, but no. It was completely unthreaded. 5 pics from the same person? Thats 5 seperate messages.

I love the way the Evo handles MMS. Fully threaded, its beautiful

I dislike the EVO MMS...All my MMS pics are so small that it feels like I am using a 1" screen instead of a 4.3" screen..

To each their own I guess.

This is true. It doesnt handle well in this respect. The fact is that Android is much more complicated to do customizations and so on since there is no version of the MS registry so we are more limited in this respect. We have to essentially hack the apk's to get customization which makes it more complex for the average joe user.

One thing that Android has on it's shoulders is stability. The system just does what I want when I want it to. Simple as that.

want a reason, WIFI tether....that alone is more than enough to root and flash a custom rom.

True... but it isnt a huge road block for me at this point. While I'm mobile I just dont have the need to tether to any other device at the moment. Rest assurred that I will be rooting at some point and flashing once we get a working Froyo ROM out there.

Re: Finally a phone that works as it should! (MMS)

The small pic issue is annoying. It makes it go from a few megabytes to like 2 kilobytes. There needs to be compression settings somewhere to make it go to a certain threshold. If not, gingerbread better incorporate something along those lines because it honestly is an issue that it makes it so damn small. I shouldn't have to convert them myself to 1 megabyte in order to send them in that quality.
