Re: Tranfer Files

once you've connected to your computer...

pull down the notification tray...and click on the usb connect...

you should be presented options of HOW you want to mount your EVO to the computer...

choose disk drive...and you can now load up music, vids...whatever!!

Re: Tranfer Files

What about transferring files without mounting the drive? Sometimes it kicks off programs that need the card to run and I would prefer to not have that happen. Active Sync used to do this, although the files would take longer, it was nice not to have to unmount and remount the card every time I wanted to dump a file.?.

Re: Tranfer Files

another way to do it is make sure that Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging (box) is checked.

Then you can push files using the following command (assumes you have downloaded the Android SDK and unzipped it to a directory, and also have either navigated to the tools directory under the Android SDK or added it to your path):

ADB push FILENAME /sdcard

That will push your file to the sdcard on your device.

Do a search here for ADB I know I found a number of threads here or on XDA-Developers that go through how to use it in detail.

<learn Linux, Android will be much easier if you do>

Re: Tranfer Files

Yeah I have ADB running on my computer and work and could at home too. Not as easy as Drag and Drop, but I appreciate the suggestion and will probably go that route.

Re: Tranfer Files

You could always install HTC Sync and use that. It is on your SD card.

Re: Tranfer Files

That would be ideal, but looking at it right now, I am not seeing any options for browser folders on phone???

Where is that option in HTC Sync?

I have NEVER gotten HTC Sync to work once. All I ever get on my PC is "configuration not found" or some such nonsense whenever I start it. On the device it just says can't find my PC, but huge hunk-o text, and nothing else.

good luck.

Re: Tranfer Files

If you have an Evo then you pay the extra $10 month so you don't have to worry about the GB cap.

Re: Tranfer Files

Or use something like the android desktop app that runs a webserver on your phone and lets you transfer files and browse your phone the pc web browser. Don't even need the usb cable. But speed does depend on your signal it should work if you are on the same wifi network though.
