1) Sprint said they'd deploy both..and they have the spectrum to do so
2) Sprint won't be able to go LTE till at least 2011-2012.. mostly due to the fact that the only LTE they can do is TD-LTE...

yeah i know. i was just bored at work and just being stupid :D

It's definitely been crazy. For me, nearly every radioshack, sprint store, best buy, and even sam's club is sold out. I happen to get lucky because there was a new best buy mobile store that opened up in the mall and I got a guy from another store to check the stock. They literally had 30 of them in the store at launch, and I finally got ahold of one!

Now be mindful, that I was also on a waiting list at radioshack for like 2 weeks and only one store just got back to me a day or two ago lol. SMH!

I really think this "out of stock" thing is a marketing strategy Sprint is using to get people to get the EVO. The more you cannot get something, the more you want it; and the harder it is for you to finally find one, the easier it is for you to overlook things (i.e. the required 10.00).

Come on... is it really THAT hard for sprint to have this phone in stock for more than a week?

Just my 2 cents.

It is the dumbest marketing strategy ever made then..remember they are not making money on sales..they make money on contracts..aside from the $10 fee they dont care if you get an EVO or a simple flip phone...as long as you sign that contract.

That is why when a carrier is happy that things are being sold out..thats just a front..why? because they are loosing millions of dollars just by not having it in stock.

The fact that they don't make money on sales is a very good point. However, you have to understand that the sale and the contract go hand in hand. People don't join sprint because they are excited about signing a contract, they want a phone. The more excited and anxious people are about a phone, the more likely they would sign a contract.

Sprint's ads about the evo is more abotu the phone than it is about their contract, because they know if people want the phone enough they would care very little about the contract. I would not have signed a new contract with Sprint just because I like their service, I signed a new contract with them because I wanted the Evo, and even though I am paying twice of what I had, I still renewed my contract because I wanted the phone.

If indeed it is a strategy from sprint, then I think it is a pretty good one and it is working for them.

Lets look at it this way though, Verizon has the Droid X, Droid 2, AT&T has the iphone and the Captivate..and T-Mobile has the Vibrant...no matter how you slice the dice if they can't keep the EVO is stock and people don't care about the service provider..they'd go get another flagship phone...

I find it hard to believe that anyone would wait 2 months of no stock and being denied to get an EVO unless they are after the service...and sprint advertises the #1 thing about the EVO is what? yes..4G...thats their biggest marketing campaign...

Lets look at it this way..500 people come to your store to buy an EVO and sign a contract...you only have 10 units so you dent 490 of them..so 490 of them are not signed onto the contract..you makign them wait 2 month is not gonna turn 490 into 550 or more..no its gonna turn the 490 into 450..then 400..and etc...you won't gain customers...

The only one who favors going out of stock is the manufacturer..why? because that means they are maximizing their earnings to their potential and makes a name for the brand...but if the manufacturer had a choice to have it in stock they would...but for a carrier its a loose loose situation...

But if your saying loosing millions of dollars while your company has been in its biggest decline is their marketing strategy..sprint should just give up right now and go out of business...

Re: Any idea when Sprint will have EVO's in stock?

While the other Carriers may have other cool phones, the EVO is the only one with 4G. These other phones are in stock and are easy to get. My point is if something is hard to get, you want it more; and this is basic human nature. Since you want it so badly, you are willing to overlook things you would otherwise stand against.

However, I do agree that people can and will only wait for so long. They will eventually move on to something else. If it is indeed sprint's marketing strategy (whether it is because they really cannot respond to its demands or they are doing this intentionally), they better think of something else.

what can they do? gezzzz people. It is not sprint the company that sells the parts to HTC did not think they would need as many as they did and now a backlog waiting. It is like the stores during xmas they were bare cause in tuff times they try and make just as many as needed.

But to think sprint is holding them is about stupid.

Please! The first phone on the 4G network with 8.0 Mega-pixel camera (not counting the other features) and the "the company that sells the parts to HTC" did not anticipate people would jump at this phone?

If anyone is thinking if getting the evo I recommend waiting till the epic comes out. I love my evo and the features but epic is suppose to have a better battery life and slightly faster processor even though their both 1ghz. Plus some of you may prefer the physical keyboard better. I myself like htc sense better than the samsung version but that's a matter of preference. I may give the epic a chance after I test it out. For those who have a renewal coming up I would wait. I would even wait till november when the new windows phone will be released. It should be an interesting year. If you can't wait then get a hero on ebay to get you by and save your renewal discount.
