Question I'm unable to answer phone calls!!!

I've had my EVO for about a week, and today this problem happened to me twice.

Basically, when I take the phone out of my pocket to answer an incoming call, my screen does not respond. I am not able to slide the bar down to answer the call.
Screen responds after I user the power button to put it to sleep and back up.

It's not a huge problem as it only happened twice, however if other users have the same issue, they should fix it.

I am returning this one and getting a white one, but just wanted to find out if anyone else here had the same problem.

I am running latest update / NOT rooted.

Install any apps before this started happening? I havent heard anyone else report this problem and it sounds like something that wouldve been posted here. If its not the "grounding" issue where youre laying it on something like a bed and trying to answer its probably not the phone itself.

I did install couple apps on the first day I got the phone. Used it perfectly fine until today. no new install between first day and now.

and it is not the grounding issue, as I am holding the phone when I had this happen.

Re: I'm unable to answer phone calls!!!

I'm pretty sure this happened to me - was going to post and ask but never got around to it. It's not being able to slide down the "slide to unlock", right? Everything else works, and the "slide to unlock" works every other time except for an incoming call. I've gotten lots of missed calls from not being able to unlock the phone in time. Seems to unlock as soon as the call has ended.

I have the unrooted, updated phone. Can't remember when it started happening, but I think it started after it was updated .

Ran across an app called No Lock in the marketplace that helps. Basically leave it unlocked and it gets rid of the "slide to unlock" bar. No problems answering the phone now.

Re: I'm unable to answer phone calls!!!

Although I have not had this problem, unlocking the device each time I want to use it is inconvenient. Thanks!

Re: I'm unable to answer phone calls!!!

The unlocking device for me is beneficial because I am someone who does butt-calling by accident. I have had this happen to me before in which I couldn't get the phone to unlock to answer a call.

Humm, are you happening to hold it in your left hand?

I am on stock with loads of apps, with latest OTA, no root and have not experienced this yet.

Was thinking perhaps you have a setting or app that messes with the accelerometer sensing? Perhaps apps or widgets running in the background boggin down the CPU while in sleep mode, causing lag while waking up?

And just for record's sake, what version hardware?

UPDATE

as I have stated above, I returned and got a white one. it is stock, with 1.47.651.1 update only. no app installed, just plain stock.

and guess what, it happened again.

phone in my pocket, it rings, I take it out of the pocket, and I try to answer the phone by sliding down the bar (and yes!, holding the phone with my left hand.. lol), and I am unable to do so.

maybe I should take Jobs recommendation and hold it some other way.

anyways, it did happen on a brand new out of the box with update phone as well.
both black one and the white one are 0003 hardware.
