So what version Evo do you have
are you having problems doing this exploit some with version 0002 say that this method keeps getting stuck at scanning and wont work for them

If you have hardware 0002 or you just can't get it to work make sure you try all methods below

Re: 1.47.651.1 ROOT Method Exploit Poll

I did it on my 003 yesterday without a hitch. I will be doing a buddy of mines evo 002 today. So, we shall see. I dont forsee any problems. I think part 2 of the instructions is what some people are getting stuck on. I used two command windows to accomplish with no problem. You basically have to run the command in shell right after your evo connects back to windows. While still on the white screen the says EVO 4G. Well, Ill chime back in after I do this 002. Good luck

Re: 1.47.651.1 ROOT Method Exploit Poll

Mine won't work. Part 2 works...it says scanning, then shows the directory thing and root...then I can't get the following steps to flash anything to the sdcard...it DID allow me to downgrade to a previous sprint ruu...so I'm not really sure what to try now as the phone's now got older software on it (that won't let me root either).

ok...did you read cyds comments in post 145 in this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...718889&page=15

Those are the exact steps I used to do this on my 003 and now the 002 I just finished. So you already flashed the recovery.img or no?

Yes I did read them...I can't get past step 9. I don't think I've flashed a recovery.img in the past, but I honestly don't know...how would I tell?...wouldn't a sprint RUU have wiped everything anyways and started over?

Re: 1.47.651.1 ROOT Method Exploit Poll

cat /sdcard/flash_image > /data/local/flash_image
chmod 755 /data/local/flash_image
/data/local/flash_image misc /sdcard/mtd-eng.img

the first 2 lines seem fine (they repeat the code back at me like it says they will), and the third line gives me:
mtd: read all-zero block at 0x00000000; skipping
mtd: not writing bad block at 0x00000000
error writing misc: No space left on device

Re: 1.47.651.1 ROOT Method Exploit Poll

I searched around xda in that thread and I see a few people in there had the same issue. One of them may have been you. But, it looks like it may be a hardware problem as stated in this thread over at xda... http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...85#post7090985 post 598. If you havent asked over there try and post a message up in that thread. Those guys over there are very responsive and might be able to help you out more than me. I dont know why you are getting that error. Good luck with it. Also, yeah you havent flashed the recovery yet as that is in step 10. Seems to me that if you did flash a sprint ruu that is would take you back to the beginning but, Im not for sure.

if you were able to downgrade you should be able to use first root method

Re: 1.47.651.1 ROOT Method Exploit Poll

Yeah, that isn't me on xda...I'm going to call Sprint and bitch at them about the tinny sounding speaker...my screen IS peeling...but BARELY...the speaker does piss me off though, so I think I can probably get the phone exchanged under HTC warranty (and since it's not rooted...I can't get in trouble right? lol)...then just try again with a new one.
