3 EVOs replaced. It's still a crapshoot...
I was listening to a local radio show and the host was discussing all the new phone options. Someone called in and said that my local BB had 50 EVOs in stock. Sure enough, the wife went down and they had a metric assload of EVOs, including white ones, which they were selling to pre-order customers.
Anyway, the wife and daughter went while I was at work and exchanged. I got down there about 6 hours later. We each got 003 hardware and they still run 1.32. The manager who did the exchange (who I am certain was an HTC plant as she repeatedly told me she didn't know what the fuss was about and the leak was "just cosmetic") had no idea to do the OTA.
My wife has an alleged build date of 6/14/10. Her glass is perfect, no leaks, set perfectly in the bezel.
My daughters and mine were built 6/16/10. Her leaks are worse and also along the side of the phone. She has a lot of play in the glass. Mine is better than hers and my old one with just a little leak. My main bitch about the last leak was not around the edge, but the beam of light that was cast across the screen by the light under the home key. I don't have that with the new one.
Haven't had them long enough to test the batteries. I'll give that a week or two.
In any event, I guess I scored by getting new phones without the OTA, though I have no intention of rooting right now. It's still a mixed bag of EVO stock I guess. I'm interested to see if the white ones fare any better.
