Re: What does always-on mobile data do?

My wifi tether (when it worked... effin OTA) would disconnect every 5 minutes when the screen went off, is it because this was disabled? Also, what kind of effect does this have on Fring? Would I get disconnected every 5 minutes if this is disabled? I can't really find out while I'm using it.

Re: What does always-on mobile data do?

I dont think I want to turn this off.. If Streaming audio shuts off after 5 minutes then thats no good.. I listen to a LOT of streaming audio.. I also dont want it to break the weather updates that I read in this thread it does.. and who knows what else.. I want the phone to get updates when it is supposed to.. There is no point in a smart phone if I have to turn off the updates and manually do everything....

Re: What does always-on mobile data do?

I leave it on 24/7 except in areas with little to no reception. Here in Paradise, if 3G is not showing at the top, battery life suffers a bit. I just up'd to a 2600ma battery with better results and have a 3500ma battery on order totally get away from it.

Re: What does always-on mobile data do?

I was getting killed with battery drain with it on. I turned it off & have NO ill effects. EVERYTHING UPDATES as it should. (email, FB, SMS, MMS, calls) I have heard that pandora will time out after a while if the phone goes idle. But the 14hrs + of battery life is worth it. When the phone goes the sleep, it shuts off your data. When you awaken your phone, after about 1 second your data pops up & connects as usual.

Like someone said, when an app requires data it will connect. If your streaming music it will not disconnect you as long as your streaming. Also if you do turn this feature off you won't have to do everything manually. All it means is that when your phone requires any data wether it be for weather or app like facebook it will connect and then disconnect instead of staying on. All your apps stay up to date, just not in true real time when this feature is off. If you don't understand this you should read a little more info on this.

Wirelessly posted (HTC Evo...SNAPPYDRAGON: Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.2; en-us; Sprint APA9292KT Build/FRF91) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)

I have tried it on and off and my battery life didn't change that much so I leave it on. Just my opinion.
