Are you rooted? If not, then you should have installed both updates.

If you dont plan on rooting then update away. But the update does block the ability to root I believe. And I think it also caused about as many issues as it fixed. And dont run it twice, people have been bricking their devices.

July 2nd 2010, checked for a firmware update.. None available. Were you prompted for an update? Or are asking hypothetically? I would not run any updates firmware or OTA if you're rooted, as it will most likely break. See the rooter's suggestions..

don't do any OTA update if you dont really have any issue with your phone. Like grounding issue where the top of the screen doesn't respond well or if you dont really need a stronger wifi signal. Specifically, dont do any OTA if you wanna root or maintain root.
