In all my experience N devices have had higher throughput at further ranges than G devices. I would assume this is because N has support for different antenna configurations, including MIMO support.

So then why are there XDA devs saying the exact opposite? Im not doubting you it just seems odd.

Im not sure about expert. I mean, he was citing wikipedia. I would like to see him provide some concrete evidence that it isn't extending range.
