How to send files via sms

Is it possible to send an .apk file to a fellow android user via sms?

I don't know, but it seems a lot more practical to email it. That way they can save it easier on their computer, forward it to other folks, etc.

if both users have astro file manager, you can bluetooth it (just rename the file to .jpeg, then change i back to .apk on their phone)

then again if the other person is far away, email works just as well

No. Even if possible it would be really painful to divide the file into 160 bytes pieces and send one by one.
