Talking Novatech screen 30 frames per second fix kind of.

XDA has done it again they did it not me but this is not a full fix. It does break things but it does prove the 30 frame per second cap is software driver related not hardware. So it will eventually be completely fixed if not by HTC then I am sure XDA will. Here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=711964

Re: Novatech screen 30 frames per second fix kind of.

I completely get the experimentation and exploration of the device. Totally understand.

What I can't believe is people are so desperate for a few extra frames in exchange for their camera or any other generally useful feature/stability of their device.

But yes, it is pretty much a proof of concept that it's a software limitation not a hardware limitation.

Re: Novatech screen 30 frames per second fix kind of.

Great, thanks and thanked. I think this is great as a proof of concept, but also for users like me who like to play around with new Froyo ROMs (where the camera doesn't work anyway), and can try this fix and overclock as well. I always keep a backup of my stable 2.1 rooted stock ROM just a 3 minute flash away when I need to go back to a fully functional build.

I think what we have is a "prove HTC wrong!" because they are just so notorious with hardware and software drivers/limitations that just look SO half-assed its not even funny ( Such as hardware acceleration and FM radio on TP2, software that cant even exploit the most of the EVOs power, etc.)

Re: Novatech screen 30 frames per second fix kind of.

Froyo...Froyo...Froyo...will fix the 30fps issue. Battery life is being addressed in the June 28th OTA update. I have never understood why people do work arounds to get things to work....2016 issue with TP2 was solved within 2 weeks of issue....yet people did workarounds...If you let HTC/Sprint know about these things...they will work on fixing them...it's already been said that HTC is aware of the 30fps cap..and they are working on making that higher with Froyo...Most if not all the issues that have cropped up on the Evo have been addressed too...so be patient..wait and you will be rewarded.

It took 6 months to get the GPS working on the Mogul, even though they initially advertised it. XDA had it working in 2 or 3 months

Re: Novatech screen 30 frames per second fix kind of.

There is already a fix for the epson screen they had it first the novatech screen is the one that took longer. I personally am not going to give up a working camera for the few frames per second increase I will wait for froyo or a full fix. I do however appreciate that there are people who will provide fixes even is HTC and Sprint won't.

Re: Novatech screen 30 frames per second fix kind of.

For those of you who didn't read the other threads on XDA about this, yes, it's a dirty fix, and no, it doesn't just raise your fps. It also takes away a LOT of lag on touch input, and we also got rid of the grounding issue before Sprint's update today. I've been working on this with ffolkes (the guy that released this hack) for a week or so, and neither him, nor I or maejrep or Toast have found the actual root of the problem.

ffolkes and I were playing around with MDDI init settings for the display and found a setting you can adjust to "trick" the clock, and we got higher FPS and smoother input.

I do not think HTC will ever release anything (including Froyo) that will kill the fps cap, so that's why we're working hard to do so. Each of us have spent 50-100 hours on this, and if you don't understand why, don't bash us or the people who want this fixed. We just care more.
