Is it the stock media player or the OS in general.....
The way that the media player sorts my music is annoying I wish I could make play lists from the sd card otherwise I have to add the proper tags to all songs. Anyway whenever I use a file explorer to find a song itll play but if I navigate away from it, the song stops. Is there a fix? Or is there a player that won't do this but is also integrated with the lock screen?

No issues with any of this here.
But of course my music is tagged right, and i have playlists such as recently added, favorite, most played, unheard, etc

You can make play list from your SD card and even arrange them in order of your choice. I used htcs "Music" app.
