Evo Camera question?

I'm on the waiting list for an Evo but before I get it I had a question about the 8 megapixel camera. Is the picture quality any good? How about pictures at night? I'm only wondering because I used to have a touch pro and pictures at night were horrible looking. Now I have a Samsung Moment and I took a picture at night expecting the same crappy results because there both 3.2 megapixel cameras and i was amazed at the difference. So i'm just wondering if Htc just makes crappy cameras? Thanks in advance for any information.

Re: Evo Camera question?

I think the 8MP camera is a big improvement, one, because we actually have a flash so night pictures are no problem, and two, because its better definition. I have taken a few pictures with my evo and they all look amazing. Its not DSLR quality but its about as good quality as a $200 point and shoot, IMO.

This was taken in a relatively dark room with just the phone's flash providing illumination. Judge for yourself: http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/9417/imag0034f.jpg

Re: Evo Camera question?

Is there a way to activate the front facing camera? I have done it through Qik, but that's it.

Slide open the camera controls, hit the settings button on the bottom then hit the top selection (switch camera).

Yeah, I don't mean to ***** that shot all over the place, but I was very impressed at the result.

However, it did take a few attempts to actually get the shot in focus at such close range.
