You know I didn't even think about that. Guess you will probably have to keep the phone's cell radio on. Maybe you just go into your contacts and set whoever you don't want to talk to automatically be dumped to voicemail.

if you go into Settings -> Calls There's a setting cvalled DDTM mode... this setting will send all calls to voicemail during an active data connection... this might be the setting you need to change. I'm not 100% it will work for ya, I'd turn it on, fire up google maps and then try calling your phone to see if it does what it sounds like it will.

I downloaded Copilot 8 specifically because it doesn't need a data connection for GPS navigation. It was $30, and about 1.6GB of space, but it was well worth the cost... Should come in handy for those trips through the middle of nowhere as well!

Both Google Nav and Sprint Nav require the data connection. Your best bet if using either one is going to be to enable DDTM. Just make sure you turn DDTM off when you're done because (unless you turn off the "Always on data" setting) all your calls will go to VM even when you don't have your navigation program open

Google navigation doesn't need data the whole time. It actually downloads the whole route at the beginning it only needs data to update if you go off track or for traffic updates.
