Best way to backup everything before a root?

Ok so I am looking to backup all my settings, contacts, apps (unless its like app store then I dont care if i can easily redownload em) and my HTC sense settings. Is there an app any of you recommend for that or anything that would make it easy just to backup to SD card? not found much on this subject so thats why Im askin.
