Does first OTA update preclude Full Root?

There seems to be conflicting opinions on whether the OTA precludes you from doing step 1 of Toast's root method. I have not done either step 1 or step 2, and was hoping someone could let me know definitively whether an EVO WITH the first OTA update can still be rooted.

Thanks,

Re: Does first OTA update preclude Full Root?

I started out with a stock evo. Did the OTA. Then i went ahead and did the steps to root and flash OMJ's rom. Then yesterday full root got released. I just did the new steps... and now im fully rooted with OMJ's rom, after doing the OTA first.

The OTA wont block you from doing anything.

Re: Does first OTA update preclude Full Root?

Thanks Sfld- when you did step 1 of Toast's root method were you able to back up your settings. I see you can do that when you do step 2, but can you do the same with step 1?
