Question about Market downloads
After you download and install an app from android market, what happens to the install file? Does it get automatically deleted after the app is installed? Or do the installs stack up somewhere where we have to go delete them to conserve space?

AFAIK, the install file is the same as the application itself. The installer just downloads the app into a temp folder and then transfers it to the /data/app folder and the app can run from there.

I can't find the APKs using Astro so I assume that they are deleted after installing.

So when the progress bar says " Installing" all its doing is moving the install file? Install file=program executable?

Which brings up a good point. If all it's doing is moving the files why does the phone slow down so bad during an install?

Well the temp file is since it has to be checked that it was received properly before moving it to the app folder. Check on /data/app you should find all the apks you have installed so far.

Because a file is being copied to another location of memory. Have you played a game while having another one install?
